KIKA gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Tokyo-based artist Masaru Iwai. Through video, photography, and performance, Iwai has focused on the notion of cleaning in our daily lives and the public processes of purification in Japan and abroad. This exhibition will feature Cosmetology on the street which experiments with refuse and beauty on the streets of Berlin and 100 Fishes (Or before and after of epicure) which captures the changes related to food filmed in Georgia’s port city of Batumi. Through his framework of Dualism of a dichotomous worldview, Iwai makes us aware of the boundaries we traverse, and the roles classification lies within our daily routines.
